Frequently Asked Questions

What do you mean by "premier soccer"?

All players on the Reign '93 White team earn their spot by participating in competitive tryouts held at the beginning of each season. The most qualified players available are selected by a committee of experienced coaches that includes team coach Bre Giove, Federal Way United's Director of Coaching, Rob Walker. Once selected, players train continuously throughout the year and compete at the highest level possible.

What kind of time commitment does it require?

Competitive soccer is a year-round activity that begins with tryouts each Spring. Practices begin immediately following player selection and generally include two, 90-mintue sessions held during the week. The team will participate in three of four summer tournaments consisting of two to four days of matches. Some tournaments may require an overnight stay and travel out of state. Practices continue throughout the summer until mid-November when players take a break from club activities to play high school soccer. The Regional Club League begins in Mid-January and lasts for six to eight weeks. State playoffs commence shortly after the first of the year and may continue through the beginning of April depending on the team's success.

Is it expensive?

Reign soccer is comparable in price to other premier soccer programs in Washington. The costs vary among teams according to the activities that its coaching staff choose to pursue each season. Fees also vary from month-to-month as needed to cover the costs of training, supplies, tournaments, uniforms, etc. Families in need may apply for scholarships provided by Federal Way United at the beginning of each season. Funds may be awarded on a discretionary and as-needed basis to help reduce some or all of the costs. More information on the scholarship program may be found here on the Federal Way Soccer Association Web site.
